Bolts of Silk: A Great Poetry Blog
I recently discovered Juliet M. Wilson's Bolts of Silk, a site devoted to collecting poetry from many different poets on one blog. In a bit a shameless self-promotion, I am honored to announce that Juliet has featured my poem, An Abundance of Tides, on her blog. Two more poems by moi will be featured on Bolts of Silk in the months ahead. Juliet herself is a very accomplished poet, whose work may be seen at Crafty Green Poet.

Billy - burned a feed to that straight away. The poem is stunning; you have the sea in your blood.
Just out of interest,is the coffin a passing reference to the sailor's cot - I've seen Nelson's cot on The Victory - the wooden box-bed which was normally used as a coffin in the case of death. (Though in Nelson's case it was the cognac barrel, of course).
Julie, the coffin is a reference to the opening and closing chapters of Moby-Dick. (Don't want to give away the plot, not that anyone will be tempted to take on the novel anytime soon -:) The reference may be too obtuse if one hasn't read the book--which is a very long haul LOL. Very long.
Thanks. I read chunks of it - years ago. Popular choice in Kingston upon Hull schools with the history of its being a whaling port. My ggg uncle was a Norwegian sea Captain, who would have worked on whalers.
I enjoy Juliet's work too.
Your poem was a fantastic contribution.
Whenever I leave the Island and head inland the first thing noticed is the lack of the scent of the sea - not till I'm on the ferry back do I feel 'home' again.
Cool. I love the title of her blog. I'll check it out.
Thank you, Janice! Scientists say that the primordial oceans are still in our blood, which would explain a lot. I believe it.
Thanks, Charles. She's got some good material over there.
I popped over and read the poem and it's beautiful, Billy, very powerful as I said.
Jo, thanks for taking the time to surf on over. Much appreciated -:)
